Money Orders

Send money safely and conveniently. A money order is much safer to send through the mail than cash because it can only be cashed by the person it’s made out to, and it can be replaced if lost or stolen. Money Orders can be purchased up to a maximum of $1,000 see our fee schedule.

Birmingham Bloomfield Credit Union does provide free notary services at either the Birmingham and Keego Harbor offices. Proof of identity most be provided.

Wiring Out of BBCU
In order to wire funds out of BBCU you must contact the receiving institution for proper wiring instructions. (The ABA on the bottom of the member's checks are not always the same)

The following information is required:

• Name of receiving financial institution along with city, state and ABA routing number.
• Name on account at receiving financial institution
• Account number at receiving financial institution to where monies are to be deposited.

Wire requests must be received by 4:00 p.m. to be processed that day. Wire request for over $50,000 must be received by 1:30 p.m. to be processed the same day. Requests over $50,000 received after 1:30 p.m. will not be processed until the next business day.

• Free Checks - you will received one box of FREE basic checks per year (single signature only) Travelers Cheques - there are no fees for you on Travelers Cheques. Cashier's Check - you may write yourself one Cashier's Check per month

Discretionary Pay

Birmingham Bloomfield Credit Union can at it’s discretion pay items attempting to clear your checking account when other sources of overdraft options have been depleted. Please note this is NOT a line of credit. Members have the option of opting out of this program at any time by notifying BBCU in writing. Once a member has “opted out”, there is a 60 day wait to request reinstatement. Please see our Discretionary Pay Policy and the FDIC’s brochure.
